The Lady’s Remorse

True love conquers all. Or at least, that is what Tessa would like to believe. Growing up stuck in an orphanage with her lover, Hert, she would do anything to give the two of them a better life. So when she is presented with a contract that would place them in servitude of the Marquis de Juttert – she as a maid, and he as a squire – she jumps at the chance. But reality hits when the true nature of the contract is revealed: Tessa is now doomed to become the Marquis’s sixth wife, and Hert a gladiator faced with certain death.
