The story is about a woman named Rosé Étouard, who had an unhappy marriage and tragically died at the hands of her husband, the Emperor. However, inexplicably, she finds herself back to the day before her engagement. She ends up marrying the same man again.

"I will go to Hellavant instead of being a lady-in-waiting to Lady Muriel!" she says, escaping from a crazy person. She flees to the northern land of savages to avoid the crazy man, but there she encounters someone just as wild: Maxim Lanqercat, the king of Hellavant, who can drive anyone, including the Emperor Cassius, mad with his unpredictable behavior.

Rosé is determined to tame this wild man and change the Emperor for the better.
